What does crystal healing do?

Crystal healing is one of those therapies that can easily sound like mumbo-jumbo, either it makes sense or it doesn’t and I respect that.  However, if you can suspend cynicism for a moment I will try to explain.

Crystal healing works on a number of levels and you can take from it what you like.  I will explain all the levels that I believe in, but feel free to take or leave it.

Colour
The most basic level of crystal healing relates to colour.

Each of the chakras or energy centres resonate at a frequency that can relate to a colour.  The colours start with red at the base chakra and move up the body to violet at the crown.  When these go out of balance colour can be used to bring them back into line.

On a very basic level many healers use crystals with the same colour as the chakras to bring them back into balance.  Personally this does not make sense.  If something that should be orange (the sacral chakra) has become too yellow, adding more orange will only affect the colour very slightly, adding more red would bring the colour back into balance.  This means the “chakra sets” that you see sold are not, in my opinion, really good enough for colour healing of the chakras.  They are nice things to have and the crystals themselves have value, but not in the way they are sold.

Vibration
This is where some science comes in to play with more esoteric beliefs.  Please forgive me for any inaccuracies, I am not a scientist.

Everything on the planet vibrates due to their atomic structure.  The frequency of the vibration is based on the chemical make-up of the item.  The human energy system is not fixed in its frequency but crystals are due to their structure and because they are natural they are in perfect harmony with the planet.  Science states that if you bring an item with a fixed frequency into the energy field of something that has an unfixed frequency the unfixed item will come into resonance with the fixed.

The frequency of the human energy system* should be in tune with that of the planet but due to things like negative thought forms, karma and pollution it can easily be knocked out of balance.  Crystals can be introduced into the human energy field to bring it back into balance.

The chemical make-up and the place in which they were formed, along with their colour, affects their vibrational frequency and the effect it will have on the human energy field.  For instance hematite contains a lot of iron and this will affect the iron in our blood along with having a grounding effect due to being in the red spectrum.

Working on these two levels would be enough to bring about a degree of healing when working with crystals; however I personally have another level of belief.

*The internet is full of information on Chakras and the Aura.  I advise you research this and find a system that resonates with you.  I quite like the descriptions of the chakras on this page however I cannot vouch for the rest of the website and I do not subscribe to their suggestions of crystals.

Earth Elders
I have blogged about this before however I am happy to mention it again.

Since being privileged be part of the wonderful Crystal Spirit group I have become aware of the fact that crystals are actually Earth Elders, just like those from the plant and animal kingdom.

These are multidimensional beings that are wiser than us and are able to work on many levels.  They have chosen to come to humanity, in their 3d forms, as crystals.  These wise elders bring with them knowledge and healing energy that can be accessed to bring about healing on a much deeper level.  When working with the crystals it is like accessing a group of wise healers who each bring their own capabilities.

All the way through the healing session there is a gentle balancing act happening.  The human energy field has many structures and energy centres that are tweaked and corrected to bring the whole system back into balance.  In the past I have worked with someone who was working on breaking addictions and I spent a lot of time working with the crystals to anchor their energy field back to their body and repairing damage the addictions had caused to their aura.

Sometimes clients who are particularly sensitive will feel sensations as this happens but for others there are no sensations.  Either is fine and should not be judged.

The comparisons we make with other people

We often look at people around us and we think "wow I wish I was more like them", other times we think "why can't they be more like me?" Particularly if they have problems that we can see answers to or they treat us badly.

In the end we have to let go of these comparisons and accept that we are all different, that we deal with life in our own ways, and we can do no different.  If we can't accept that person for who they are we can gently offer to lend a hand or we can walk away, anything more is simply trying to make that person be more like us.

This is a lesson I think we all need to learn, even me!

So next time you want to be like someone else, send yourself a little love because you are perfect as you are for this moment. And when you want someone to be more like you, send them some love, because they are perfect for themselves in this moment.

Our travelling companion – The Ego

Today I met my ego, and it wasn’t a pretty sight.  I knew it wouldn’t be and I wasn’t surprised, but it was very interesting and hopefully a step towards healing it and teaching it its place in my life.

Ego is something we all have.  Even the great spiritual leaders who people claim have no ego have one.  The difference is, theirs is in its rightful place.

It has taken me some time to understand what ego is for and now I realised it can be seen as being like a pet dog.  If it is untrained it will take charge and rule the roost, but if put into its correct place and trained it will become a loyal protector.

Just like the mind is for analysis and understanding, but not for compassion and heart led situations, our ego is to show is that we have an equal standing in society.  It helps us set boundaries, marking out what is reasonable and what is not.  When those boundaries are crossed, like a guard dog, our ego steps forward assertively defending us.

The problem is, when we are young so is our ego, it is like a puppy looking to the elder dogs around it for guidance; the elder dogs being the egos of the people around us while we are growing up.  If that puppy is nurtured and shown how to be it will become our loyal friend; but sadly so many of those elder dogs teach the wrong lessons just like they were taught when they were growing.

Of course this is all a metaphor, but you can see how it applies to the world around us.  As we grow up we learn how to use our ego from the situations we find ourselves in.  We may learn from the way our parents treat others as well as how they treat us.  Maybe we are taught that the best way to survive is to be quiet and submissive to those who have stronger wills than us.  Maybe we learned that if we throw our weight around we can get what we want.  Whatever we are taught we often move out into the world with an ego that is already badly taught and is often in charge of our reactions to the world around us.

Moving from young childhood our world expands and we meet up with other people who have badly trained egos.  We learn we can either manipulate those that are submissive or we have to back down to those that are stronger than us.  Those of us who are weak may also learn to hide the weakness and pretend to be braver or stronger.  There may also come a time when we become sick of being trampled on and lash out to assert ourselves.  Unfortunately, by this point we have no real idea how to do this so we make bad choices; just like a dog that has been kicked too many times our ego causes us to “bite” anyone who comes near us.

By the time we are adults our ego is so confused we can end up lost in choices that we simply don’t understand.  We have no set boundaries and we allow some to cross them and hurt us and we keep others at arms reach.  While we are in control of our lives we can fool ourselves into thinking our egos are fine, but as soon as we come across someone that challenges our view of ourselves we can react badly.

Many of us continue with this for the rest of our lives.  For those that have powerful egos life may appear easy on the surface.  They may get what they want by force, but deep down I wonder how happy they are.
For those that have learned to hide or submit to stronger egos it can be hard to find their way through the world.  A part of them, deep down, tells them they are worth more than they could wish for, but the greater life teachings say that they are worthless and must accept their position.

At this stage I see my ego for what it is and I am simply learning to accept it.  Accept its perfection as part of who I am and a result of the life I have lived.  In time I hope to start teaching this old dog new tricks in the hope that between us we can find our rightful place in the scheme of things.  It is likely to be a slow process of understanding, compassion and facing fear and guilt, but in time I am certain it will be worth it.

Bach remedies are for everyone, so why see a practitioner?

One of the most important teachings of Dr Bach was that everyone can learn to use the Bach remedies, and he was right.

When we study to be practitioners it is impressed upon us that we must not use any esoteric method to choose the right remedy for the client.  We should base our choice solely on an understanding of the situation and that of the remedy.  We are also taught to explain to the client why we have chosen a specific remedy to ensure that they both agree that it is the right remedy and also understand why it was chosen.  This gives the client their power back when they could so easily hand it over to the practitioner.

Personally I agree with this completely.  Although there is a level of inbuilt obsolescence where we would eventually become redundant to a long term client I think it is important that they are in control of their treatment and can, at sometime, work with the remedies on their own.

Alongside this teaching element in sessions there is also a host of books and websites available to the public to help them choose their own remedies and the remedies themselves can be bought quite easily.

So, why would you see a practitioner when you can do it yourself?

I never really understood this until one winter I decided to revisit the remedies I was using to deal with my SAD.  For the previous couple of years I had been taking Gorse and  Mustard and they were not working.  Gorse is for when you are ready to give up, everything you have tried hasn't worked and you are resigned to being unhappy.  Mustard is for the times when a dark cloud has blocked out the light in your life, but when you evaluate the situation you can't actually see what is causing it.

I couldn't understand why this wasn't working, they fitted how I felt completely.

The problem was, I was not being objective.

It is hard to be objective when you are trapped inside the feelings.  You think they are justified and that is all there is.  What I hadn't realised what that I was simply feeling sorry for myself.  I was unhappy because I felt so unhappy.  As soon as I realised this I reached for the Willow and things got a lot better.

Another example.

When we moved to our new home we brought with us our 2 cats; Bryn and Taf (yes, they did come from Wales).  Sadly 3 months after our move Taf crossed the big road and got run over.  As a result of this we re-homed Katie and Scruffy and we decided that the cats were to be kept in at night as I was so worried about them.

As summer came Katie and Scruffy came home later and later at night and I would spend nights in bed crying or driving round the area worried they had been hurt.  Naturally I reached for the Red Chestnut remedy to help me deal with this.  Red Chestnut is for situations where you are deeply worried about someone else, in this case my cats.

It seems perfect sense, but again it was not working and I couldn't
understand why.  Again I took a moment out of myself to understand what was really happening.  Although I was worried about the cats I realised that if they were killed I wasn't worried about them, I was worried about how I would feel.  I was frightened of the emotions that I would feel if another cat was lost.  Red Chestnut was not going to work on that.  This was a situation where I needed Mimulus for fear and Cherry Plum for fear of losing control.

So, from this you can see where a practitioner comes in.  There are times when we are far too caught up in our own emotions to see what is really going on.  Talking to someone who has a knowledge of the remedies and can also ask the questions you yourself might not see need to be asked can make all the difference in picking the right remedy.

Regression; its place in healing.

Along my path of healing I have done quite a lot of past life regression and I have gained a lot from it; so I thought it a good idea to share my understanding and beliefs about this interesting healing technique.

When I mention regression people get all excited and ask if I was anyone important or famous?  Sadly I have to tell them that I wasn’t and there is little chance of them having being anyone famous either.  This is all down to maths and nothing esoteric at all; if you think about it, of all the people who have lived, what percentage of people are famous and important?  Very very few!  This means that it is more likely that we have been peasants, servants, workers, soldiers and worse.  But that’s fine; we have all had a part in making the world what it is now.

Once we get past that and the hopes of an ego boost we can look at what we can gain from past life regression.

Of course, to believe in past lives we have to believe in reincarnation and with that comes the idea that there is a part of us that is the same in all the lives we have lived.  This part of us carries information from life to life and part of that information is often called Karma.  For me this is not about punishment for past crimes but more the lessons we need to learn.  Often this comes in the form of dis-ease.  This could be a physical illness or it could be beliefs or sensitivities that stem from something that has happened in a past life.

We can work on healing the situation as it is now and often that is sufficient, but sometimes a deeper understanding is needed and this is where regression comes in.  We need to visit the time that the issue first started and heal that. This will then trigger a domino reaction through all affected lives through to the one we are aware of now.  The healing gained this way can be profound.

So, why don’t we just use this method straight away?

One of the problems we face when working with regression is that until we are there we have no idea where we are going.  Remember how I said it is unlikely that we were anyone famous?  It’s also unlikely that we will be going back to an easy life either.  Up until the last 100 or so years life for the common person has been hard, and the further back you go the harder and more brutal it gets.  If we are then looking for what is most likely a traumatic event we end up having a high chance of going into something pretty grim.  All of this means we need to be sure that this is the most appropriate method to work on this situation and that we have tried everything else first.  We also need to be prepared to experience things as if they are happening to us now.
This can be like opening Pandora's box; whatever is let out of the box cannot be put back and forgotten.

Of course, once we bear all of this in mind we start to think about the other question that often comes up when we are talking about regression; can I do it because I am curious?

Yes, you can do it for curiosity’s sake, but do you really want to?  It is possible that if you are not tracking something that needs healing you may stumble upon a life that was blissful, I am sure we all had them, but do we want to take the risk?  If we are working alone and purely to feed a whim; we may come back with more than we bargained for.  Once the box with the memory is opened we cannot forget it.  Traumatic memories do fade, but if we don’t have to take them on board then maybe we should leave them in the box.

All of this means we need to work in a controlled environment with someone we trust totally and for a purpose.  All of my regression work has been done with a wonderful lady I have been seeing monthly for nearly 10 years for healings.  I trust this woman completely and there have been times when that trust has been leant upon greatly.  There has been more than one regression where I was lost to my fear; I could not get back to the here and now on my own.  There was also one that I went into knowing it was going to be very tough,  without this wonderful lady standing by me ready to help I don’t know what would have happened.

I am not trying to put people off regression, or come across as someone special because I have done it.  I am merely trying to make people aware of the truth about regression and that it needs to be treated with respect.  It can provide amazing experiences and the healing gained can be fantastic, but we need to go into it with our eyes open!

I personally don’t offer regression as part of my healing practice as I am acutely aware of the responsibility I would take on walking with someone into their personal soul history.  If you want to do it I can put you in touch with my friend but unless you have a very good reason I can assure you it is unlikely to happen.

Our health is our responsibility!

So many people talk about how their doctors are not helping them deal with their health issues.  Either they are being brushed off by the doctors, waiting weeks or months for an appointment or, when they do get heard the result is less than what we were looking for.

Since the formalisation of medicine we have been indoctrinated into looking to the medical profession to fix all our woes; whether it is an antibiotic to cure a cough, pain killers for our aches or anti-depressants to make us happy.  So many of us are finding this just isn’t enough.  We are also discovering that many of the problems we are suffering from are considered myths by the medical profession.  They just aren’t interested.

This is leaving many people suffering, either living with situations that seem to have no treatment, popping pills that just store up trouble for the future, or masking the real problem with pharmaceutical sticking plasters.

This conditioning we have to hand over our health to a man in a white coat has blocked our ability to look elsewhere for ways to improve our lives.  We think we aren’t able to do anything without being told it is ok to do so.

Now that we have more access to information some people are starting to take responsibility by researching and taking information to their doctor.  This is great, but we are still handing our power over to someone else.  If that doctor still disregards it or refuses to diagnose or write a prescription we are back at square one.  The only difference now is we know what we have.

What if we peeked outside the box that is this conditioning and started to see if there was anything else that could be done?  This is when we find complimentary therapies waiting to help us take back our power and our health.

Now, don’t think for one second that I am saying there is a cure for everything.  I know that at this stage humanity isn’t ready to let go of ill health and all the things that cause it, but there is so much out there that can be done to make our lives so much better.

The most accessible option is the effect our diet and the nutrients we take in can affect us; not just on a physical level but also on a mental and emotional level.  This might be through research on the internet or by seeing a professional for guidance.

5 years ago I came to understand that I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder.   This is a condition brought about by the lessening of light levels in the winter and can trigger amongst other things depression, anxiety and brain fog.  If I had visited a doctor and managed to get them to diagnose me they would have prescribed something along the lines of anti-depressants which at best would chemically balance my mood.  I really didn’t want to go down this path so I took to the internet and researched as much as I could.  I have now learned what vitamins and minerals will help me and I used a light box daily during the winter.  I can’t say it’s a perfect cure, but my life is so much better for it, and I continue researching.

For the last 10 years I have worked on other major issues in my life with complimentary therapies.  Receiving crystal healing regularly has helped me heal emotional scars from my first relationship and freed me from the anguish I was carrying that manifested in physical ways.

For me, complimentary therapies are tools that sit alongside traditional medicine in my toolbox. The trick is picking the right tool for the job.  If it’s a medical emergency, see a doctor, if it is an ongoing issue that can take some experimentation, look at other tools available.  Of course, there are so many complimentary therapies out there we have to be sure we pick the right one.  Some work best on physical issues, others are more for mental and emotional issues.  Once again, the internet is your freind, do your research.

So, why don’t people try these options?  I think there are a number of reasons.

Firstly, scepticism tells them that there is no point.  That it is money for old rope and they can’t be helped.

I think this is a real shame, what have you got to lose, compared to what you might gain?

The next argument is that they can’t afford it.

I admit there are people who are living on a very tight budget and there are therapists on the market that are charging vast amounts of money, this may make it difficult.  However how many people spend money on things they don’t really need? Clothes, cigarettes, alcohol, fancy gadgets?  Would it not be better to cut down on those and spend the money on your health and wellbeing?  As they say, if we don’t have our health, what do we have?

Of course, there is often the unspoken belief that we don’t deserve good health.  That somehow this is our lot and we just have to accept it.  I say that is rubbish; that we need to fight and take back our health.

Finally, and I think this is the deeper reason, to believe that complimentary therapies work would require a great shift in how we believe the human body, and the world around us, works.  To accept that taking something that has no active ingredient or receiving a therapy that works on an energetic level  requires a great shift, and I think most people aren’t prepared to take the risk.

Once again, I think it is a shame; that someone is more prepared to suffer than either budget better so they can afford a treatment, accept their own worth or take a leap of faith and try something new.

Really, what DO you have to lose?

So, next time you sit there, fed up because the doctors don’t listen or the meds they have given you aren’t working as well as you hoped, think about what else you could do.  Look outside the box, take back your power and try something new.

So how good are these Bach remedies? Insight into Pine

Bach remedies really are subtly amazing.

I am currently at my day job and I made a mistake that has caused some fairly major IT wrangling.  The work that has been needed can be split down into 3 sections.  The first part was caused by my error but the other 2 parts have been caused by the first and second fixes fix not actually working.

After finding the second fix didn't work I felt guilty for the amount of hassle I have caused.  On noticing this I reached for the bottle of pine that I keep in my drawer at work, along with a number of other key remedies that help me deal with my day to day work.  2 drops in the dregs of my coffee and down they go.

Now I can look at the situation with clarity.  Yes I made a mistake and I need to be aware of not making it again, but the rest of the hassle is not the result of my failing, so why should I feel guilt for it?

Guilt in itself is a pointless emotion, next time you feel it take Pine and see if you gain a new perspective on a situation that allows you to learn from your mistakes or see that you actually did nothing wrong.
